Why is the sky orange tonight?

Night skies from urban areas look orangish (especially from the horizon and up) due to the presence of sodium vapour street lights which give off an orange light which is scattered by the dust and pollution to create a diffuse glow. The severity of the orange colour can be correlated to amount of pollution.
